Abstract With development of the Internet, many technologies were created which can be used to create distant learning system. This article is made as help to people who want to develop such system. This is also an overview of Web oriented technologies, their advantages and flaws. Second part of the article is a short description of FerWeb system. FerWeb represents collaborative and informational system because students and professors are working together creating Internet community of Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. OpenSource technologies ( PHP, Apache, PostgreSQL, Smarty ) are used for system development. Special attention was given to security issues. At the end of article there is an overview of the problems we encountered during the development phase and suggestions for future developers. |
