Abstract
This article is about the use of ICT to support and
fundamentally change classroom based activity. The data informing the
article was collected over a four year period from final year
undergraduates taking degrees in the biosciences. Basically, the delivery
approach de-emphasised lecturing as a means to deliver information,
replacing this with a range of ICT based static and interactive materials.
As a consequence of the reduced amount of lecturing done, more classroom
time was devoted to student centred activity and the provision of tutor
feedback. The overall approach is quite generic and potentially applicable
to many other subject areas.
