The Working Community Alps-Adria was established in November 1978 upon signing the "Joint Declaration" in Venice. The Community was founded on the basis of informal friendly relations among several neighbouring countries, in the spirit of tradition and common historical background. The Working Group, founded in 1987 with the Republic of Croatia acting as the presiding country, is represented by 18 counties, regions and states.
