European Union's Framework Programme (FP) is the EU's major instrument for funding research across Europe.

Its main component is creating a European Research Area (ERA). The programme is divided into three main parts:

      1. Concentration and integration of common research in seven priority fields, complemented by specific measures covering a wider research area
      2. Structuring the European Research Area according to horizontal measures in the fields of innovations, mobility, infrastructure, science and society
      3. Strengthening the foundations of the European Research Area through coordination and support
