Investment projects which can be financed by the CEI fund include the public sector (infrastructure), the private sector (industry, tourism features, distribution of food, privatised companies), the financial sector (bank loans, investment funds), and the urban (municipal) sector (urban infrastructure wherein the local authorities are involved in partnership with the private sector).
CEI only exceptionally participates as an investor.
The usual way for CEI to participate in investment projects is through providing technical support based on loans, in the following two stages:
(i) project preparation, feasibility studies, preliminary design of the project, financial planning, etc.
(ii) support during implementation, detailed design, etc.
CEI services are available to 15 transitional countries, CEI members.
