CEI strategies and programme guides

Strategies

CEI develops economic and development strategies in following ways:

  • by gathering and summarising economic strategies useful for institutions in CEI countries
  • by concentrating on regional cooperation and expanding the benefits of EU beyond EU's borders
  • by coordinating and promoting generations of projects through defining "promising" areas, often in cooperation with other international/national organisations
  • by fully using EBRD benefits available in different countries' strategic fields

Guides through programmes:

Investment programmes

CEI encourages and monitors cooperation with EBRD on "Investment programmes" in different areas (including agriculture, transport, banking, insurance etc.), by optimising the synergy of cooperation between CEI and EBRD, as well as between CEI and other international financial institutions.

Development programmes

As a part of this programme, CEI also encourages and monitors "Development programmes" in cooperation with several international financial institutions and several international organisations. The aim is to develop economic sectors and institutions, the transfer of "know-how", the support of transformation programmes, economic transition and modern technologies.

In the area of business and institutional environment, CEI primarily makes possible the introduction of reforms, political recommendations and institutional growth. In the area of business promotion, it develops programmes providing benefits to individuals in member countries.

Due to limited resources in the CEI financing fund, the number of CEI projects and programmes is restricted to 2-3 programmes annually.

Joint activities / international events

CEI encourages and assists in planning, financing and the realisation of "Joint activities and international events" normally proposed by CEI bodies and partners. The focus is on investment subjects, including the CEI network. Joint activities and international events are usually connected with the CEI Summit Economic Forum and integrated into structured programmes called "CEI programmes of know-how transfer technology".

The Office for CEI projects additionally organises and supports activities of economic cooperation, such as training programmes, conferences, workshops and other important "international events".

Exceptionally, unless they are covered by the CEI fund for cooperation (limited to 5-10 joint activities / international events annually), CEI joint activities can be financed by the CEI financing fund at EBRD or other sources.

Other CEI cooperation activities, especially those not specifically economic investment oriented, such as cultural and scientific investments, are supported through the CEI joint activities fund.
