ESF is an independent organisation financing its activities from its own budget which is supplied from participation fees of its members, and partly from its own co-financing of individual programmes.
The amount that individual members pay is calculated on the basis of each member's net national product.
- Workshops and networks are financed from ESF's general budget.
- Programmes and EUROCORES are financed from members on a la carte basis.
- European research conferences are co-sponsored by ESF and European Commission.
The basic budget for 2003 amounts to around 6.6 million EUR; with Programmes and EUROCORES it amounts to over 17 million EUR.
