Textbook is a teaching tool (material) which presents the subject matter defined by the curriculum. A university textbook is required to contain the complete overview of the subject, including the theories, as well as to be of a more permanent character.

A university textbook has to be approved by the university Commission for Scientific and Instructional Literature, based on the opinion of three reviewers.

In the 'print times' the textbook was also required to be produced in good quality and representative manner.
