Recording the sound from a CD onto a computer

Analogue method

Analogue method is an older way to transfer sound into the computer. It is better to use the digital recording method or transferring audio records from a CD to your computer, in order to be able to edit it and use in the future. However, if you have an older CD-ROM that doesn't support digital extraction or you have problems ripping audio records in Adobe audition, you can record the sound through your sound card. First start the program for listening of audio materials (such as Windows media player). Then open a new wave document in the drop-down menu File, and Windows recording mixer in drop-down menu Options, where you can set the recording level, not too strong or too weak. The easiest way to set the level is to activate Monitor record level in Options menu or press F10 key to activate monitoring. If you can't see level meters under the recording, or start and stop buttons, open it in View menu (Show level meters). At that point play the loudest part of your material from the CD and set the entry audio signal so that it doesn't go over 0 db. When the entry level signal is set, press the Record key and start your audio material from the CD. When recording is finished press stop on both programs. Your video materials are now finally ready for further editing.

Digital method

If your CD-ROM supports digital audio extraction, the best method is to use Open command in drop-down menu File. Insert CD into the CD-ROM device and click on Open. Select the format of record on the CD (in this case *.cda* or CD digital audio), mark it, click Open and audio recording will now be on your computer and ready for use. Audio recodrings from a CD can also be opened by using Open as or Open append commands .
